So we found a
spot near the Band Shell and although it was close we were unable to see
anything actually happening there. I think we chose it because it was
shaded and the sun was quite warm when we arrived. We were close to the
water’s edge but not right on the shore line and right behind where they were
face painting. I wanted my face painted! That was awesome so I waited in
a line easily without even straying far from my friends. I waited patiently and
finally got my heart with pulse and NO H8 on my cheeks. LOVED IT. I
think it’s been a LONG time since I have had any face painting. Those paint artists just kept painting all day long, for hours with no break and all for free...and all for love.
We started to
blow our bubbles and eventually Dawn passed off her extra bubbles to people next
to us who took them up on the small hill that was created by the art work
statue and bubbles were everywhere. That was awesome. Who does not
love bubbles! We would turn around at times and just see the ocean of bubbles.
We also met up with a few more friends who managed to find us in the crowd somehow. Although telling them we were holding a rainbow umbrella and blowing bubbles didn’t seem to help much. We were all there together (minus the ones that couldn’t get to us via the thickness of the crowds) waiting the lighting of our candles.
At some point we noticed a beautiful fall like breeze moved in and it made the usual FL summer heat and humidity fade away. It could not have been a more beautiful night for everyone.
The speakers started a bit late and we had been standing quite a while. Its times like those when the 6 titanium pins and rods in my spine start to really bother me. But I toughed it out. They also delivered port a potties near us but to make our way there through the crowd seemed impossible so no potty breaks for us. Frankly I am surprised I made it the whole night with no bathroom break. We were there a total of about 7 hours total!
